“But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you far away from God, but now you have been brought near to Him through the blood of Christ.” – Ephesians 2:13 (NLT)
What is the Redemption Covenant? This covenant is Salvation (Luke 1:77). When someone receives the redemption covenant and is born again (John 3:3) and redeemed (1 Peter 1:18), that person enters the covenant through the blood of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:19).
When a sinner is convicted and convinced of sin by the Holy Spirit, repents, and asks Christ into his or her heart, that person becomes a new creation. That individual does not see or experience an angel of the Lord bringing the literal blood of Jesus Christ to repaint the heart and doorway as was done in the Old Testament time. However, a real, very literal translation occurs when one confesses the Lord Jesus with the mouth. With this confession, Jesus removes the guilt of sin and replaces it with the peace of God (Romans 8:1).
Jesus, Who is our High Priest in the heavenly temple (Hebrews 9:23-28), bears in His hands, feet, and side the scars of His work of redemption for us (John 20:25-27). The removal of the presence of sin is very real. However, the blood is applied through the confession of one’s faith.
Let us be grateful for the Redemption Covenant. Through this covenant and in faith, the name of Jesus Christ demonstrates the authority of God as we confess the blood of Christ over our lives, children, homes, families, and nations.
